Narkemina kata was named by Aristov (2013). Its type specimen is PIN 3115/129, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Chunya River (PIN collection 3115), which is in a Kasimovian/Gzhelian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Kata Formation of the Russian Federation.
