Taxonomy
Pteromalini was named by Dalman (1820). It is extant. Its type is Pteromalus.

It was reranked as the subfamily Pteromalinae by Statz (1938); it was corrected as Pteromalidae by Carpenter (1992), Sharkey (2007) and Burks et al. (2022).

It was assigned to Chalcididae by Statz (1938); to Apocrita by Carpenter (1992); and to Chalcidoidea by Sharkey (2007) and Burks et al. (2022).
