Taxonomy
Anthracosiro was named by Pocock (1903). Its type is Anthracosiro woodwardi. It is the type genus of Anthracosironidae.
It was assigned to Pleophryninae by Petrunkevitch (1945); and to Anthracosironidae by Petrunkevitch (1949), Petrunkevitch (1953), Dunlop et al. (2013).
