Taxonomy
Aphantomartus was named by Pocock (1911). It is the type genus of Aphantomartidae.
It was assigned to Eophrynidae by Pruvost (1919); to Trigonomartidae by Petrunkevitch (1949) and Petrunkevitch (1953); and to Aphantomartidae by Petrunkevitch (1945), Rossler and Brauckmann (2000), Rössler et al. (2003), Correia et al. (2013), Dunlop et al. (2013) and Shanks and Selden (2022).
It was assigned to Eophrynidae by Pruvost (1919); to Trigonomartidae by Petrunkevitch (1949) and Petrunkevitch (1953); and to Aphantomartidae by Petrunkevitch (1945), Rossler and Brauckmann (2000), Rössler et al. (2003), Correia et al. (2013), Dunlop et al. (2013) and Shanks and Selden (2022).
