Taxonomy
Priscotama antiqua was named by Petrunkevitch (1971). Its type specimen is UCMP 13532 and is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is UCMP B-7043, Simojovel area, which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Mexico.
It was recombined as Prototama antiqua by Penney (2006), Dunlop et al. (2013).
