Taxonomy
Plutellites tenebricus was named by Kozlov (1988). Its type specimen is PIN 363/80, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber, Yantarnyi village (PIN collection 363), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.
