Taxonomy
Aulieezidium karatauense was named by Szwedo and Żyła (2009). Its type specimen is ZPAL V32.354, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Aulie, near Mikhalovka, Karatau (ZPAL coll), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large siltstone in the Karabastau Formation of Kazakhstan. It is the type species of Aulieezidium.
