Taxonomy
Mesoderus ovatus was named by Prokin et al. (2013). Its type specimen is NIGP 154569, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Liutiaogou Village, Dashuangmiao Town (NIGP collection), which is in a Barremian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Yixian Formation of China.
