It was reranked as the family Ingruidae by Shcherbakov (1984) and Szwedo (2018).

It was assigned to Scytinopteridae by Becker-Migdisova (1960) and Becker-Migdisova (1961); to Prosboloidea by Shcherbakov (1984); and to Ingruomorpha by Szwedo (2018).
