Taxonomy
Apis longitibia was named by Zhang (1990). Its type specimen is Shandong Provincial Museum s82773, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Shanwang, Linqu County, collection s (Shandong Provincial Museum), which is in a Burdigalian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Shanwang Formation of China.
It was recombined as Apis (Synapis) longitibia by Engel (1999).
