Oligocoris was named by Jordan (1944). Its type is Oligocoris bidentata.

It was synonymized subjectively with Fulvius by Carvalho (1954) and Carvalho (1957).

It was assigned to Miridae by Jordan (1944); and to Cylapinae by Herczek and Popov (1999).
