Taxonomy
Mesosingeria oblonga was named by Villar de Seoane (2005). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type locality is Estancia Bajo Grande, which is in an Aptian fluvial-lacustrine conglomerate/sandstone in the Anfiteatro de Ticó Formation of Argentina.

L. Villar de Seoane 2005 | Pinnate leaf. Oblong, alternate pinnules 0.9 cm long and 0.4 cm wide, with rounded apex, entire margins and narrow base; 7e8 veins, central veins forking once. Thick cuticle. Adaxial epidermis with rectangular cells. Abaxial epidermis with rectangular to isodiametric cells. Both cuticles with trichomes and stomata. Trichomes with 6-7 cutinized basal cells. Stomatal apparatus monocyclic, actinocytic, incorporating 7-8 subsidiary cells. Guard cells deeply sunken. Ultrastructure of external wall of the epidermis formed by a cuticle proper, a granulate outer layer and an alveolate inner layer. |
