Taxonomy
Bibiodites confluens was named by Cockerell (1915). Its type specimen is USNM 61440, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bembridge Marls (Brodie coll), which is in a Priabonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Bouldnor Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Bibiodes confluens by Fitzgerald (2004), Skartveit (2009), Nel et al. (2019).
