Brongniart (1831) based Anomopteris mougeotii on fern foliage and a stem with apparently no connection; Corda (1845) removed the stem into Sphalmopteris mougeotii.

Taxonomy
Anomopteris mougeotii was named by Brongniart (1828). It is not extant. It is the type species of Anomopteris.
