Alphadryinus bruesi was named by Olmi (1984). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Danish Amber (University of Copenhagen ZMUC, NHMD Collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Denmark.
It was recombined as Dryinus bruesi by Olmi (1995), Olmi and Bechly (2001), Olmi and Guglielmino (2012).
