Artiepyris kiefferi was named by Brues (1933). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber, Konigsberg collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Epyris kiefferi by Sorg (1988), Perrichot and Nel (2008), Azevedo et al. (2018), Colombo and Azevedo (2021) and Colombo et al. (2022).
