Taxonomy
Lycoria dietleni was named by Armbruster (1938). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Randeck Maar (Schempp collection), which is in a MN 5 crater lake lime mudstone in the Randeck Maar Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Sciara dietleni by Evenhuis (1994).
