Taxonomy
Miopsiloptera savtshenkoi was named by Gentilini (1986). Its type specimen is NHMV, an exoskeleton (male fly), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Monte Castellaro (MCSN collection), which is in a Messinian lagoonal marl in the Gessoso-solfifera Formation of Italy.
It was recombined as Symplecta (Psiloconopa) savchenkoi by Krzemiński and Gentilini (1992).
