Erioptera (Mesocyphona) divera was named by Podenas and Poinar (2012). Its type specimen is Poinar MI-23-50, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Mexican amber (Poinar coll), which is in a Miocene terrestrial amber in Mexico.
