Taxonomy
Tibicina gigantea was named by Boulard and Riou (1989). Its type specimen is MPVR Riou 485, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Montagne d'Andance, Saint-Bauzile, Privas (Riou collection), which is in a Turolian crater lake diatomite in France.
