Taxonomy
Karataviella shandongensis was named by Zhang (1985). Its type specimen is Shandong Provincial Museum L84999, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Nanligezhuang, Tuanwang Town, Laiyang City (Shandong Prov. Mus.), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large shale in the Laiyang Formation of China.
