Taxonomy
Heterochterus timmsii was named by Evans (1971). Its type specimen is QM F6473, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Mount Crosby Insect Bed (Timms collection), which is in a Norian lacustrine - small shale in the Mount Crosby Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Heterochterus.
