Ildavia incompleta was named by Popov (1993). Its type specimen is BMB 018460, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Keymer Tile Works, which is in a Hauterivian pond mudstone/siltstone in the Weald Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
