Taxonomy
Protomyia amoena was named by Heer (1849). Its type specimen is SMNK Oe. 170 Inv. 1247, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Oeningen (Carlsruhe collection), which is in a Sarmatian crater lake limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Penthetria amoena by Evenhuis (1994), Skartveit and Pika (2014).
