Taxonomy
Mesococcus asiatica was named by Becker-Migdisova (1959). Its type specimen is PIN 371/1530, an exoskeleton, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Ak-Bulak-Say, Sogjuta, Issyk-Kul (PIN Collection 371), which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian lacustrine - small siliciclastic in the Dzhil Formation of Kyrgyzstan. It is the type species of Mesococcus.
