Taxonomy
Cixius petrinus was named by Fennah (1961). Its type specimen is BMNH In. 59335, a tegmen, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Lamb's Brickworks, which is in a Barremian terrestrial horizon in the Weald Clay Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Barremixius.
It was recombined as Barremixius petrinus by Bourgoin and Szwedo (2021).
