Diceratherium niobrarensis
Taxonomy
Diceratherium niobrarensis was named by Peterson (1906). Its type specimen is CMNH 1271, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Peterson's Quarry A, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Harrison Formation of Nebraska.
It was recombined as Metacaenopus niobrarensis by Troxell (1921); it was synonymized subjectively with Menoceras arikarense by Tanner (1969); it was corrected as Diceratherium niobrarense by Peterson (1907), Prothero et al. (1989) and Prothero (2005).
