Taxonomy
Scambus fossilis was named by Khalaim (2014). Its type specimen is BMNH In.64644, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bembridge Marls (Jarzembowski coll), which is in a Priabonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Bouldnor Formation of the United Kingdom.
