Cardium graniferum was named by Broderip and Sowerby (1829). It is extant.

It was recombined as Trigoniocardia (Trigoniocardia) granifera by Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Trigoniocardia graniferum by Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
