Pheidologeton schossnicensis was named by Assmann (1870). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Schossnitz (Sosnica), which is in a Miocene lacustrine claystone in Poland.
It was recombined as Carebara schossnicensis by Fischer et al. (2014).
