Taxonomy
Palaeoaphalara ampla was named by Klimaszewski (1993). Its type specimen is BMB 018431, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Thorness Bay, Bembridge Marls, Isle of Wight (BMB coll), which is in a Priabonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Bembridge Marls Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Carsidarina ampla by Drohojowska (2019).
