Taxonomy
Schizoptera dominicana was named by Poinar (2015). Its type specimen is Poinar HE-4-75B, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber, La Toca mine (Poinar coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the La Toca Formation of the Dominican Republic.
