Orites milliganoides

Taxonomy
Orites milliganoides was named by Jordan et al. (1998) [Type locality: Early Oligocene sediments on the Lea River, north-western Tasmania. Other specimens examined: Lea 2753, Lea 2747, Lea 2748.]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is Holotype: Lea 2746, stored in the Department of Plant Science, University of Tasmania., a leaf. Its type locality is Lea River, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial siltstone in Australia.

G. J. Jordan et al. 1998Leaf small, obovate, with few teeth. Multiseriate adaxial hypodermis of elongate sclerenchyma cells, 1 or 2 seriate abaxial hypodermis of short, scarcely thickened cells arranged tangentially around stomata to form a reticulum. Epidermal cells almost isodiametric, about half the length of the subsidiary cells or less, stomata longer than broad.
