J. F. Basinger et al. 2007Flowers pentamerous, perigynous, with sepals, petals, and stamens inserted on rim of a hypanthium. Sepals five, semicircular to deltoid, persistent. stamens antepetalous and in a single whorl, occurring in five bundles; each bundle with filaments fused laterally at the base to form a digitate facicle of stamens. Petals five, one attached at the base of each stamen bundle. ovary tricarpellate, exserted in fruit; common style persistent, inserted in shallow pit; dehiscence loculicidal.
