Taxonomy
Bibiopsis cimicoides was named by Heer (1849). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Radoboj (Grätz Collection), which is in a Sarmatian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in Croatia.
It was recombined as Plecia cimicoides by Evenhuis (1994); it was recombined as Penthetria cimicoides by Fitzgerald (2004), Skartveit and Krizmanić (2020).
