Bibiopsis egerana was named by Novák (1878). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Mokřina (Krottensee), which is in a MN 4 lacustrine - small marl in the Cypris Formation of the Czech Republic.
It was recombined as Plecia egerana by Evenhuis (1994); it was recombined as Penthetria egerana by Fitzgerald (2004).
