Taxonomy
Meimuna protopalifera was named by Fujiyama (1969). Its type specimen is IGPS 36741, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Kinomata Bridge, south of Itamuro Hot Spring, Nasu, which is in a Miocene terrestrial mudstone in Japan.
