Taxonomy
Baissotea popovi was named by Ryzhkova (2015). Its type specimen is PIN 3664/2150, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Shin-Khuduk (PIN collection 3664), which is in an Aptian lacustrine sandstone/marl in the Shinekhudag Formation of Mongolia.
