Taxonomy
Sciara willershausensis was named by Kohring and Schlüter (1993). Its type specimen is GZG 20439, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Willershausen clay pit (GZG collection), which is in a Piacenzian pond marl in Germany.
