Taxonomy
Euproteaciphyllum amphistomaticum was named by Carpenter et al. (2012) [Additional specimens: OU32057, OU32060, OU32062, OU32063, plus other material on slides and SEM stubs retrieved from dispersed cuticle preparations, University of Adelaide.]. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Holotype: OU32064, Geology Museum, University of Otago, Dunedin, NZ, a leaf (Cuticle), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is F45/f0394, middle Gore Lignite Measure, Newvale Mine, which is in an Oligocene/Miocene mire/swamp lignite in New Zealand.
