Taxonomy
Protosciara alsatica was named by Quiévreux (1938). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Alsace potash field, Anna pit (Quievreux collection), which is in a Rupelian lacustrine - large mudstone/evaporite in France. It is the type species of Protosciara.
