Calliscelio was named by Ashmead (1893). It is extant. It is the type genus of Calliscelionini.

It was assigned to Scelionini by Ashmead (1893); to Calliscelionini by Masner (1976); and to Scelioninae by Johnson (1992), Talamas and Buffington (2015).
