Riostegotherium yanei
Taxonomy
Riostegotherium yanei was named by Oliveira and Bergqvist (1998). Its type specimen is MCN-PV 1774, an osteoderm (pelvic osteoderm), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is São José de Itaborai, which is in an Eocene fissure fill marl in the Itaboraí Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Riostegotherium.
