Taxonomy
Ekgmowechashalinae was named by Szalay (1976). It is not extant. Its type is Ekgmowechashala.

It was reranked as the subfamily Ekgmowechashalinae by McKenna (1990); it was reranked as the family Ekgmowechashalidae by Ni et al. (2016).

It was assigned to Plagiomenidae by McKenna (1990); to Omomyidae by Szalay (1976) and Szalay and Lucas (1996); and to Adapiformes by Ni et al. (2016).
