Mesoscytina fistulae was named by Lambkin (2016). Its type specimen is QM F58695, a tegmen, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Mount Crosby Insect locality B (Lambkin collection), which is in a Norian lacustrine - small shale in Australia.
