Supervallupus was named by Yang and Pessago (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-u].

It was synonymized subjectively with Neovallupus by O'Dogherty et al. (2009).

It was assigned to Pantanelliidae by Yang (1993); to Vallupinae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Spumellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
