Olenellus logani was named by Walcott (1910) [Lectotype designated by Lieberman 1999]. Its type specimen is GSC 414d and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Wanneria logani by Poulsen (1958) and Fritz (1972); it was recombined as Elliptocephala logani by Lieberman (1999).
