Taxonomy
Scolopax incana was named by Gmelin (1789). It is extant.

It was recombined as Heteroscelus incanum by Olson and James (1982); it was recombined as Heteroscelus incanus by Steadman et al. (1990), Steadman and Pahlavan (1992), Wragg (1995); it was recombined as Tringa incana by Clements et al. (2017).
