Taxonomy
Scolopax grisea was named by Gmelin (1789). It is extant. It is the type species of Macrorhamphus.
It was recombined as Macrorhamphus griseus by Hay (1930); it was recombined as Limnodromus griseus by Miller and DeMay (1942), Wetmore (1956) and Clements et al. (2017).
