Taxonomy
Tellina alta was named by Conrad (1833) [Authority date uncertain.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Metis alta by Conrad (1856), Loel and Corey (1932); it was recombined as Lutricola alta by Ashley (1895); it was replaced with Leporimetis obesa by Moore (2003).
